What is IGCSE?

The International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) is one of the most recognized qualifications around the world. IGCSE courses are renowned for developing vital educational skills, including recall of knowledge, oral skills, problem-solving initiative, teamwork, and investigative skills. The resulting qualification provides a foundation for high-level courses.

What is A Level?

'A' Level is a two-year program after Std. X offered by the University of Cambridge International Examinations. 'A' Level is one of the most recognized qualifications around the world. It is accepted as proof of academic ability for entry into universities, institutes of higher education and military schools, and is equally important for young people moving into employment. These exams are highly specialized and comprise of only three subjects.

How will A Level help?

Studying for 'A' Level is academically challenging but offers excellent preparation for the next stage in your education – for study at university or college.

Students planning to study abroad have a very good opportunity as they can complete the 'A' Level of the University of Cambridge International Examination at RIMS International School & Junior College. This cuts down not only the cost of study but also the cost of traveling abroad as well as accommodation.

'A' Level qualifications are taken in over 160 different countries and are recognized by universities, education providers and employers across the globe.

Where is IGCSE accepted and Recognized?

IGCSE is a high-profile qualification. It has exactly the same value in admitting students to institutes of further education and employment as the UK equivalent GCSE.

IGCSE is comparable with GCE 'O' Level and the UK GCSE and is equivalent to the Indian Grade X exams (SSC, ICSE, CBSE, NIOS or equivalent).

IGCSE has an excellent reputation among international schools worldwide.

IGCSE is recognized as a reliable record of attainment, which counts towards entry to universities and colleges around the world.

Can a student appear for the Pre-Medical Test[PMT], IIT-JEE or CET after passing the A Level Examination?

Yes. The 'A' Level examination is equivalent to the Std. XII examination and is one of the eligibility criteria to appear for any Indian competitive examinations.

What is the assessment system followed at RIMS?

Formative and Summative assessments for students as a standard approach is followed across all grades at RIMS.

Weekly tests will be a part of Formative assessments along with various other tools assessing the learning of every child under our care.

Two Summative assessments and two Formative assessments will be conducted during one academic session.

Are the faculty at RIMS qualified and experienced to teach the Cambridge Program?

All faculties appointed are adequately qualified and experienced to deliver the IGCSE curriculum, however, the RIMS policy encourages the continuous professional development of teachers throughout the year ensuring good teaching and successful learning.

When are the IGCSE and A Level Examination held?

The 'A' Level examinations are held in three series:

March series,
May/June series and
October/November series.

Why should parents choose A Level in comparison with CBSE, State or ICSE Board?

Does the ministry of Education recognize “ A” Level Program?

Yes. It has been decided that Indian students will not require any permission/ no objection from the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Department of Secondary & Higher Education for appearing for 'A' Level examinations mentioned.

Does taking only four subjects in “A Level” benefit the students?

Definitely. It provides a focused approach. More concentration and a detailed study of the relevant subjects lead to better grades for the chosen career and eventually a better chance of admission to specialized colleges.

Appearing for 4 subjects at 'Advanced' Level makes you eligible for admission to the First Year of the three years B.A., B.Sc., B.Com and B.E. degree courses in any Indian University except IIT and medical courses.

After A Level which universities can one apply to?

The list is endless. Every university of repute worldwide (including premier Indian Universities) recognizes the 'A' Level qualifications.

Who can take ‘A Level’?

Students who have just passed their Std. X examinations (SSC, ICSE, CBSE, NIOS, IGCSE or equivalent) Students intending to study abroad
Students who want to study as per international standards and also seek the option of staying in India
Can students avail of the canteen and transport facility?
Rims International School & Junior College has a separate Canteen facility, well equipped to provide nutritious food as per the advice of the in-school dietician and nutritionist.
Parents can approach the Rims International School & Junior College Transport Department for further details on the multi-route bus facility and the associated nominal charges therein.

What are the options available after IGCSE?

Post the successful completion of the IGCSE, students can continue their studies from any of the local colleges in India or students can pursue the international 'A' Levels at Rims International School & Junior College or any international curriculum in India or abroad.
The 'A' Level is a superior alternative to HSC or Junior College and is a two-year program after Std. X conducted by the University of Cambridge International Examinations (UCIE).
It is one of the most recognized qualifications around the world and is accepted as proof of academic ability for entry into any reputed Universities (including Mumbai and other Indian universities).

When and where are the IGCSE Examinations held?

The 'IGCSE' course is a two-year program and examinations are taken at the end of the period. The student can opt for any of the following three series:

At what stage can students join the Program?

ASSESSMENT AND EVALUATION

Assessment and evaluation are necessary, important and an integral part ofthe teaching learning process in all classes.

To monitor children’s learning and performance and to monitor the progressof each child Four Assessments are scheduled in one academic sessioncomprising of Oral Assessment (Reading, Recitation, Elocution, Role Play,JAM, Quiz) and Written Assessment (Thinking & Critically analysing).
